...I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known...
Elton John re-released Candle In The Wind after the death Princess Diana in 1997. It was a sad song commemorating a tragic loss. More sad is that such songs are sung after our passing than during our living. What if it wasn't always so- what if we each had a chorus surrounding us uplifting our hearts as we made that uphill climb with crosses in tow?
Jesus knew he was facing a horrific death but committed to make that climb in such way that he manifested the Father in the process. Lots of people have carried crosses. That isn't the point. It isn't that life is hard. There are no free passes. It is how we live out the hard and point towards the Father. Jesus made that climb alone and, according to his word, brought glory to God. (Matt 27:55) Our people are candles in the wind. They are cross carriers all facing uphill climbs. May they carry well and not climb alone.
Encourage encourage encourage. Yes, we stumble and fall. We totter back and misstep. We bruise and break others. Crosses are heavy and the climb is steep and the wind is strong. A few kind words go a long way as we trudge up that hill.
Help them "continue to make" the Father known.
