...even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve...
Service, washing the feet of the saints, is an incredible tool for discipleship. Unlike many of our coffee conversations, where afterward you wonder if you wasted your time, serving others has the gracious effect of shaping hearts. Think about foot-washing...
-
it humbles our Judas-hearts
-
it confronts our comforts
-
it invites us to see others differently
-
it expends energy that might have gone to lesser things
-
it blesses the recipient AND the servant (it is healing work)
Apostle Paul made serving the saints part of his coaching conversations with Titus. Read Titus 3 and notice all the instructions of "good works". We need to learn to be devoted to "foot-washing".
-
Do you know how your people serve?
-
Do you know if it is a challenge? (foot-washing is hard work and heart-work)
-
Could they join you in your service? People who serve together-stay together.
Jesus said Our Father commands a blessing over "foot-washers". Lets help our people step into the blessed life.
