Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. (2 John 9)

We teach that repentance hinges on asking, "What is Jesus saying to you". Before that can happen we need to know what Jesus has actually said. Satan is too deceptive and the lies too prevalent. Disciplers must be discerners.  One time I had a guy come up to me convinced that he married the wrong woman and maybe he should leave his wife..."Jesus told me", he said.  "Yeah, buddy, that wasn't Jesus. Not something he would say, not based on what he has said."

Disciple-makers, Jesus-followers, are people of The Book. In the Holy Scriptures, Jesus' words, we receive the treasures of God's life and light and love.

Sadly, the Bible is the number one sold but least-read book of all time. Foster a healthy reading, memorizing, and meditating habit in your people. This begins with your own Scripture habit- you making Jesus' words your habitat.  Let, "Where have you recently found Jesus in your Scripture reading" become one of your mentorship questions. Expect faithfulness in your people and hold them to the standard of allegiance.

Whether or not you chat about the weather matters little if they can't weather the matters of life.
