But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”

Sometimes our faith doesn't work. That is not to say that The Faith doesn't work. I mean that "our" individual faith may not be standing up to the tests that come our way. Our faith could be weak or ill-founded or misplaced. Our faith, like the paralytic at the pool of Bethesda, can lead us crippled and ineffective.  (Thank God that Jesus' grace meets us and strengthens us.) We humans have to learn two things:

1) we are weak and can't work/ don't work most of the time. (tough for Type A, fix it/ conquer it/ don't get in my way types)

2) Jesus is always working. ALWAYS

Life moments, in ourselves and those we work to mentor, are often brought on by the Holy Spirit to highlight one of those two truths: we aren't working well (broken) and Jesus is always working. Lean in when those life-moments come along. Ask those good questions; what isn't working and what might Jesus be saying.  Then be silent. Feeling the strain is the Father's grace revealing that we need Him.
