Week 1: Layer Up

How could the deceiving Serpent so easily take down Eve and Adam? What was his tactic? He preyed upon their misunderstanding and ignorance of their Creator. Has that ever happened to us? Or what of Moses and YHWH warning that he was about to step on holy ground? Is God a bush?

We better add another layer to our shield. We began by giving shape to our understanding of the Bible. Now, let us add to that our knowledge of the Holy One, God. The second layer in our study of Doctrine answers the question, 'What Is God Like?" What did you write down on your study guide?

What does it mean that God is unchanging, omnipresent, holy, wrathful.... Did one particular attribute stand out to you from your reading? Identify one you would like to understand more.

Why not go back over your notes this week and review the chapter in Grudem's text? Let your newfound perspective of the Bible inform and shape a greater love and understanding for your Creator.

Memory Verse:
Exodus 34:6–7: ...“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”
